As custom formed of ages old,
I bid you Season’s cheer.
And lest the story go untold,
I’ll summarize the year.
Schwarzenegger’s maid and he
Produced a child and so-
Maria said that he and she
Were gonna have to go!
John Edwards had the same idea
His girlfriend’s love, requited.
Caught, he gets to finally be a
Lawyer, now indicted.
Japan’s big quake meant people there
Received their share of woes.
The big wave left the landscape bare
And now, their sea coast glows.
Liz Taylor died, so much adored,
Peter Falk did, too.
Steven Jobs and Betty Ford
To name, but just a few.
Big Joe Frazier passed away-
A class act, to be sure.
But Gabby Gifford’s here to stay
One bullet can’t get her.
Casey Anthony got out.
Gadhafi’s history.
Rupert Murdock lost some clout.
Oprah left TV.
LA Dodgers went bankrupt,
And good, old USA?
Bankers said, with tone, abrupt,
“You lose your triple-A.”
Weather played a role, this year.
East Coast record snow.
Virginia earthquakes, far and near.
Big winds in Joplin, MO.
“Tony” Weiner thought it time-
He hastily “retired”.
Conrad Murray did the crime,
And Charlie Sheen got fired.
“Occupy Wall Street”, they said,
“Wreck Oakland, right on cue.
We’’ll make the papers, on Op Ed,
And maybe TV, too.”
Kim Kardashian’s married, now.
Oops! (Blink). There’s a rift.
But she maintains one holy vow-
Keep each and every gift!
Catherine hitched up with a prince,
Her royal finger, banded.
Atlantis now is history, since
It’s permanently landed.
Wisconsin legislators hid
In an adjacent state.
And ignored Gov’s plaintive bid-
Return and face their fate.
9/11 came of age.
It’s ten years old, this year.
I side with that old, wizened sage,
“Let them feel some fear.”
But smile and be of cheer, my friend,
And sing a Christmas hymn.
This poem of mine is at an end.
Your good friend, WILSON (Jim).
